Training camp is opening for most of the NHL today. As a result of this teams are releasing their training camp rosters. One name, in particular, caught the attention of Leafs fans and media.

Former Leaf Signs With Stanley Cup Contender

The Colorado Avalanche announced their training camp roster today. A particular forward was one of the most interesting names on the list. Former Toronto Maple Leaf Brandon Kozun has signed a Player Tryout (PTO) with the Colorado Avalanche.

Kozun will join the Avalanche after almost a decade away from the NHL. The 33-year-old will be looking to prove he belongs in the NHL.

Kozun A Veteran Overseas

While Brandon Kozun might be a new name to North American hockey fans he will be very familiar to those who follow European hockey. Kozun spent the last 8 years playing in Europe. His best season came with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL in 2020-21 when he put up 32 points in 37 games.
Now Kozun will look to transition back to the NHL. While he will likely just be a veteran voice for training camp with pro experience he could surprise some people. If not he likely figures to be a leader on the Avalanche's AHL team the Colorado Eagles.
