The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost another prospect in their organization, as Filip Kral, their 5th round pick from the 2018 NHL draft, has decided to leave North America and pursue better opportunities in Europe.
Kral, a defenseman from the Czech Republic, showed potential during his last season in the WHL, back in 2019-20. He was known for his offensive skills and nearly averaged a point per game, which is impressive for a defenseman. Now, after a few disappointing few seasons in the AHL, he's leaving North Ameria to join the LIIGA.
Kral hopes that this opportunity in Finland will help him improve his performance and serve as a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal: returning to the NHL and securing a solid, full-time role for himself.
