NHL pre-season is getting here closer than you think, and at least one former NHLer has been signed to a PTO.
Peter Holland, formerly of the Toronto Maple Leafs (plus stints with the Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes and New York Rangers), has agreed to a professional try-out (PTO) deal with the Colorado Avalanche, as reported by CapFriendly.
Must read on Daily Hockey Dose
A former 15th overall pick by the Ducks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Holland last played in the league during the 2017-18 season. He's since had stints in the AHL, KHL and SHL, having last played during the 2021-22 season for Djurgårdens IF.
Holland, a Toronto native, saw his most productive NHL years during his two seasons with the Leafs, scoring 52 points in 127 games with his hometown team between 2014 and 2016. Though the Avalanche could definitely use some bodies for their AHL affiliate Colorado Eagles, it remains to be seen if Holland will earn a contract.
