A concerning poll has fans worrying about Leafs Captain John Tavares

The Maple Leafs got knocked out of the playoffs in just four games by the Florida Panthers. This led to lots of folks blaming the Leafs' 'Core Four', for not winning.

After this, it was clear that big changes were about to happen. The team said goodbye to their GM, Kyle Dubas. Now, as they look for a new boss, people are wondering what will happen with William Nylander, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and John Tavares.

There are a lot of free agents in the Leafs who could leave to play for other teams. If they want to keep players like Ryan O'Reilly, Luke Schenn, Ilya Samsonov, or Michael Bunting, they might have to let some other players go.

People are guessing what might happen, and sometimes fans get asked what they think.

The radio show First Up, which is on TSN, asked a question on Twitter that got fans talking.

With this many leaders in the roster comes the question: who should be captain in the long run?

Fans were divided when they were asked the following question:

Over 3000 people gave their opinion, and what they said was quite a surprise.

A little more than half (50.8%) picked O'Reilly, while just under half (49.2%) picked Tavares.

This was very close.

But remember, Tavares has been with the Leafs for five seasons, and he still didn't win this vote. O'Reilly has only been with the team for a short while, but he's already very popular with the fans.
