Yesterday, the Winnipeg Jets placed five players on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Manitoba Moose in the AHL. Here's a list of players they sent down:
"As expected these players will be on waivers today. Jansen Harkins has the highest chance of being claimed IMO but probably everyone makes it through unclaimed. Harkins could use a change of scenery and maybe if he clears he could even be traded"
Of those 5 forwards, Jansen Harkins was claimed by none other than Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"The #NHLJets have lost forward Jansen Harkins to the Pittsburgh Penguins via waivers.
He had 25 goals and 50 points in 44 games for the #MBMoose, while also suiting up for 22 games for Winnipeg last season
A tough loss for the Jets, but a fresh opportunity for Harkins elsewhere"
This definitely isn't the ideal situation for the Jets but it could end up being exactly what a player like Harkins needs in order to capitalize on his talents and play in the NHL.
