John Tortorella has been one of the toughest coaches in the media over his career, but now he has issued a stunning apology after a recent press conference.

Now, after facing backlash, the old-school coach has stunned the NHL world, officially apologizing to the media today;
Tortorella this morning apologized for his non-response when asked about goalie Felix Sandstrom's play Sunday: "I made a terrible mistake with you guys the other night. You might have asked me about Sanny. My body language was wrong. What I should have said to you was he tried. Sanny tried. Things happened this year that put our goaltending situation into a state of flux. Sanny did not deserve that from me. You had the perfect right to ask that question. He did not deserve that from me. It was wrong."
This was a stunning move from Tortorella, who has embraced the old-school mentality both with his teams and in the media throughout his career, but this shows major growth as he looks to lead this Flyers team to the playoffs. With the loss of Carter Hart, this is a team that's struggled in net behind Samuel Ersson's fantastic rookie campaign, but now with the addition of Alexei Kolosov, it appears they may finally have some stability in net.
Only time will tell, but with a talented young group and Tortorella taking strides as a coach in the media, it's safe to say that this is one of the most intriguing teams in the NHL heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
