At least, brainstorm it. Yes, it's complicated and yes, everyone would have to be on board. But no one mind-melds with Karlsson like Alfredsson, and, since it got into my head, I can't stop thinking about the possibility of it."

Friedman makes it clear in his statement that this is just something that's a possibility, rather than something that has been discussed, but with former teammate Daniel Alfredsson behind the bench, it's a conversation that's likely to take place.
A difficult trade that could become a major possibility
As Friedman mentions, this isn't a deal that could simply come together in a day, it's one that would have plenty of moving parts, but with the Senators struggling to find their game again in 2023-24, he could be the leader and the spark on the blue line that this team needs.
In 53 games this season, Karlsson has tallied 7 goals and 39 points with a +8 differential, and while he's nearing the back end of his career, he's still got plenty left to offer, so this is a deal to keep an eye on.
