The New Jersey Devils are looking to be active ahead of the 2023-24 Trade Deadline to save their season, but this isn't the move we saw coming.

New Jersey add veteran blue liner Kurtis MacDermid

On Friday, the Devils confirmed via social media that they have acquired Kurtis MacDermid via trade with the Colorado Avalanche.

We have acquired F Kurtis MacDermid via trade with the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and forward Zakhar Bardakov.

In exchange the Devils are sending out a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and forward Zakhar Bardakov, a relatively solid depth move for New Jersey.
With the likes of Jacob Markstrom still on their mind, this was a solid move to not give up many major assets, and with 249 games of NHL experience with LA and Colorado, MacDermid could play a solid role for this team going forward.
