A controversial former NHL player is once again grabbing headlines as he got his Russian citienship.
Ex-NHL Player Gains Russian Citizenship
Brendan Leipsic has recently been granted Russian citizenship.

Born in Winnipeg, Leipsic has been playing in the KHL since 2020, when he joined the CSKA Moscow. He later spent two seasons with the Magnitogorsk Metallurg and is now playing with the St. Petersburg SKA.
Leipsic was drafted in 2012 by the Nashville Predators, but his career took a major twist when he got inolved in a massive controversy. Misogynistic messages from his Instagram account were leaked, putting an end to his NHL journey.
He still played 187 games, with the Maple Leafs, Canucks, Golden Knights, Kings and Capitals, where he scored 59 points.
