Evander Kane Gets Called Out By Kevin Bieksa After Two Terrible Periods
Last night, in an intermission report, Edmonton Oilers' Evander Kane got called out after two terrible periods by former NHLer Kevin Bieksa.
The Oilers fell short against the Toronto Maple Leafs least night and ended up losing the game 6-3.
Bieksa calls out Evander Kane and other Oilers players for not stepping in for McDavid or Draisaitl in rough loss against the Maple Leaf
The game didn't start the way the Oilers would've liked. After two periods, they had a 5-0 deficit against the Leafs.
Toronto played a tough game. They stayed on top of McDavid and Draisaitl all night long and didn't mind being physical with the team's stars.
Unfortunately, the other Oilers players had no response, which Kevin Bieksa simply found embarassing.
"The Leafs wanted to get bigger and tougher in front of their net and they wanted to defend like this so if you're the Oilers and you're the skill guys like McDavid, you let the Kanes and you let the Nurses and you let your physical guys, Janmark, get involved in this stuff."
"You have to turn the other cheek if you're Connor and Leon cause your team needs you on the ice."
Bieksa recalled his time with the Canucks, playing with the Sedin brothers:
"Like with the Sedins, we never wanted the Sedins in these battles," admitted Bieksa. "I never wanted this to be one of the Sedins battling with Holmberg and pushing him back."
"But then like Evander Kane or somebody else step up, why do McDavid and Draisaitl have to fight their own battles? Why isn't the rest of their team stepping in for them?"

Evander Kane definitely has a part of the blame to take. In fact, everyone must step in when Draisaitl or McDavid get roughed up.
There's been a few reports of friction between Kane and the rest of the team recently, and it culminated on the bench, in an altercation with Draisaitl! Draisai
Despite that underwhelming performance, Kane managed to tally an assist, during a powerplay.
If they don't do that, they'll find it hard to get past the first playoff round.
