We Now Know What it Will Take to Trade Jack Campbell Out of Edmonton
The OIlers are in a tough spot. They've been struggling since the season started and the main reason are the goaltenders. It's been reported that they're exploring trade options.
Trading Campbell: It Won't Be That Easy
The Oilers have been struggling, particularly in the goaltending and defensive departments, which led them to send
Jack Campbell to the minors due to his poor performance. This move immediately sparked rumors that the Oilers were exploring the possibility of trading him.

However, his $5M AAV contract, combined with the Oilers' urgent need to address their roster issues, will certainly complicate things. Well-known NHL insider Darren Dreger has disclosed that it will require extra incentives from the Oilers to facilitate Campbell's departure.
Dreger went on to say in order to unload Campbell's contract (deal has to be money in/money out for it to work for Edmonton) he would have to add a 1st RD pick or
Xavier Bourgault, he does not want to leave the new incoming GM in a bad situation.
Both options suggested by Dreger are vital to the Oilers' future. If they decide to part with either of these assets and still miss the playoffs, they risk compromising their long-term prospects for no significant gain.
Oilers Looked to Make a Trade with the Montreal Canadiens
The Oilers are actively exploring all potential trade options for goaltending, and one of the teams on their radar is the Montreal Canadiens, who currently have three NHL-caliber goaltenders. However, reports indicate that Montreal is also looking for additional assets if they are to trade one of their goaltenders to Edmonton.
According to @FriedgeHNIC, the Oilers have narrowed their interest in Habs goalies down to Primeau and Montembeault & have asked for clarity on Montembeault's contract extension talks. Should the Canadiens hold on to Monty and if not, what would you want in return ⬇️ ?
The Oilers will need to make an important decision on whether to take a risk and go all-in for this season or adopt a more conservative approach, considering the preservation of their long-term development plans.
