Connor McDavid has achieved the impressive feat of scoring 60 goals in two consecutive seasons. While Auston Matthews accomplished this in 73 games, McDavid surpassed him by scoring 60 goals in just 72 games, with 10 more games left in the season to potentially reach 70 goals.

NHL Teases The Maple Leafs In Latest Post to Celebrate McDavid

Despite McDavid's incredible achievement, the NHL used this opportunity to poke fun at the Toronto Maple Leafs. The NHL's official Twitter account shared an image to honor McDavid, which featured him with a Maple Leafs puck on his stick. While some speculate that this may have been a nod to Auston Matthews' MVP season, others see it as a shot at Matthews for achieving the feat slower than McDavid.

However, it's also possible that the image was a coincidence, and the graphic designer simply chose a photo that happened to feature a Leafs puck. Some fans see this as part of a larger conspiracy against the Leafs, but the simplest explanation is likely that an away game photo was chosen for practical graphic design reasons.
Regardless of the motivation behind the NHL's tweet, McDavid's achievement is a remarkable one, and he remains a top player in the league.
