Insider Reveals Leon Draisaitl's Top Free Agent Destinations
Over the past few seasons, Leon Draisaitl has formed an incredible bond on and off the ice with Connor McDavid, but with free agency looming, could he really leave Edmonton?
Leon Draisaitl will get paid like a top NHL star
While the Oilers are likely prepared to pay Draisaitl a major amount of money to stay, on the open free agent market, there's a chance that he could become one of, if not the top paid start in the entire NHL.
Over the past five years, Draisaitl has topped 100 points four times, with the only exception being a shortened pandemic year in which he tallied 84 points in 56 games, and there's plenty of teams around the league that would make him their top star.

According to Mark Spector, a long-time Edmonton Oilers reporter, Vegas, Los Angeles, Boston and both New York teams are the ones that he would consider if he were to part ways with Connor McDavid.
In his recent article, Mark Spector lists the Vegas Golden Knights, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, New York Islanders and New York Rangers as teams that superstar F Leon Draisaitl could consider if he were to leave the Edmonton Oilers when his current contract is up.
While there isn't any reason to believe Draisaitl is considering leaving Edmonton, Drai stated he was going to do «what's best for him» when his current contract is up, not giving any real answer when he was asked about re-signing.
Spector believes Drai's next contract will be the team he finishes out his career with, as he believes there is almost no chance he signs a short-term deal like Auston Matthews did with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Spector also reveals he will likely sign a long-term, likely eight or more year deal that will see his career finish with that team (or at least on that contract), putting even more pressure on the Oilers to win immediately.
