Oilers Place Jack Campbell On Waivers

The Edmonton Oilers announced G Jack Campbell has been placed on waivers for assignment, the team has announced. Campbell now available to free to be claimed by all 31 other NHL teams.

Campbell, 31, has struggled to start the season with the Oilers, with a 1-4-0 record and a woeful 4.50 GAA and a .873 SV%, who have been without superstar Connor McDavid, out with a lower-body injury.

A former All-Star with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2022, Campbell signed a five-year, $25M contract with the Edmonton Oilers the following offseason, with a career 22-13-4 record in Edmonton, but with a 3.53 GAA and a .886 SV%.

If he clears, Campbell will be assigned to the Oilers AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. In Bakersfield, Goalies Oliver Rodrigue and Calvin Pickard have been dominant, with Rodrigue having a 1.00 GAA and a .968SV% in 2 Games and Pickard having a 2.03 GAA and a .939SV%, with a combined 4-2-0 record. Potentially one may be called up to replace Campbell.

Campbell was a 1st Round Pick, 11th Overall, by the Dallas Stars in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Campbell had played for the Stars & Kings before becoming a starter with the Leafs and Oilers.
