Insider Elliotte Friedman has broken the news that Patrick Laine has been traded to the Montreal Canadiens.
It has been officially confirmed that Patrick Laine is now a member of the Montreal Canadiens, the return for the trade has been announced on the Montreal Canadiens account on the social media platform X.
The Canadiens will also be receiving a 2026 2nd round pick in the deal, while Columbus is acquiring young D-man
Jordan Harris from the Canadiens.

Laine made it very public that he wanted to move on from the Blue Jackets, and Montreal has been rumoured to be part of the teams interested, and they have now won the Laine sweepstakes, and for a relatively cheap price at that.
Harris has played the last 2 seasons with the Habs, putting up unremarkable offensive numbers while being steady on an otherwise very poor Habs D-Core.
Laine now has a new home in Montreal, and perhaps a new love for the game of hockey.
