After a solid campaign with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2023-24, Tyler Bertuzzi has now cashed in with a major deal to pair with Connor Bedard in Chicago.

NHL free agency has already begun with some major deals, and one surprising one has officially been announced by the Chicago Blackhawks, who acquire veteran forward Tyler Bertuzzi.
Bertuzzi's 4-year deal with Chicago will come with a $5.5M AAV
This past season with the Maple Leafs, Bertuzzi netted 21 goals and 43 points through 80 games, and now, the Blackhawks have found what they were hoping for with Corey Perry a year ago. This deal gives them a key veteran that can help Bedard grow in the NHL and to excel alongside for years to come, and will give the fans a loveable character that they will enjoy watching.

Not sure this was on a lot of people's radars. Interesting landing spot
The $5.5 million AAV hit may not be what they were looking to pay, but with the chance to steal him away from the Maple Leafs as they build up their core, this was ultimately a great deal for both parties.
