The Calgary Flames have played some solid hockey as of late, but with no chance of becoming elite with this core, it appears they're ready to sell at the upcoming March 8 trade deadline.
Group of UFA's all available via trade
The Flames entered the 2023-24 season looking to sell on their group of UFA's led by
Noah Hanifin,
Elias Lindholm and
Chris Tanev, and at this point, that should still very much be the goal.

However, it appears that it's not just that group available, as the team have reportedly become open to talking on one of their biggest stars in goaltender
Jacob Markstrom.
A bounce-back year makes Markstrom a key trade chip
Despite having term remaining on his deal, the Flames realize how valuable goaltenders are on the market this year, and now David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has revealed that they are open for business on Markstrom.
"But teams aren't calling Calgary only to inquire about his pending UFAs. Conroy has also generated interest in some of his players with term remaining on their contracts, including goaltender Jacob Markstrom." Pagnotta said.
He added, "To date, Conroy has not approached Markstrom or his agent Pat Morris about the possibility of waiving his NMC. I'm told that will only happen if the Flames receive an offer they deem acceptable. There is belief out there that Markstrom would consider a trade to a contender, but that has not been confirmed on my end."
Pagnotta notes that no deal has been offered yet to make them approach Markstrom, but with a 2.68 GAA and a .908 save percentage on the year and several contenders needing help in net, it appears to be just a matter of time.
