Brad Marchand offers his insights on Jeremy Swayman's contract negotiations with the Boston Bruins
Captain Brad Marchand offered his insights on Jeremy Swayman's contract negotiations with the Boston Bruins in a recent interview.
We're only a few days from officially kicking off the NHL training camps, and some organizations must still deal with restricted free agents.
Many key players are still without a contract for the 2024-25 season, and that's the case with goaltender Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins.
The goalie who led the Bruins to the second round of last year's playoffs is looking to get a massive payday, and according to multiple reports, there's a big discrepancy between what the goalie wants and what the Bruins are willing to give him.

With the Bruins' decision to keep him and trade away
Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, Swayman will be expected to carry a much bigger workload. Unfortunately, the team could be forced to start the season without him if they fail to reach a deal before the season opener.
The Bruins held their annual golf tournament yesterday, and captain Brad Marchand was asked to comment on the situation.
"It's a big topic of conversation with the fans and the media, and this is part of the business, and we all are really looking forward to when it does get done and the process is over and he is back with the group. But that's obviously out of our hands and we don't get involved in any of that. So it'll be great when everything gets kind of squared away."
There's no doubt that Swayman is one of the best goalies in the NHL, but at only 25 years old, we can understand why the Bruins could be reluctant to give him such a big contract.
At the end of the day, someone will have to make a sacrifice, and as of now, it looks like Swayman is holding the bigger end of the stick.
