Former NHL Player and Coach Passes Away at Age 80
Former NHLer Wayne Maxner passed away on Thursday, July 27th at the age of 80. No cause of death has been announced at this time.
Maxner's impact was felt both in professional and junior hockey. He spent several seasons with the Boston Bruins in the NHL and other various professional leagues before retiring in 1974 to pursue coaching.

While Wayne Maxner had a playing career to be proud of his success as a coach is to be admired as well. Maxner was the head coach of the Windsor Spitfires on multiple occasions helping to develop waves of the next superstars in the NHL.
Maxner also had a two-year stint as the head coach of the Detroit Red Wings in the early 1980s where he had a record of 34-68-27.
