Former Bruin's Scary Moment in AHL Playoff Game

Anton Blidh, a former Boston Bruins player, faced a harrowing incident during an AHL Playoff game. Blidh, who had previously played 70 games with Boston, was playing for the Hartford Wolf Pack against the Hershey Bears when he collapsed on the bench during the first period.

The Incident and Immediate Response

The match, held by Hartford, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, was halted during the first period following Blidh's collapse. The incident occurred after a collision with a Hershey player, which left Blidh unconscious on the bench. Unable to leave the bench on his own, Blidh was attended to on a stretcher brought onto the scene.

Blidh's Remarkable Recovery

In a surprising turn of events, Blidh was able to return to the game in the second period. Reports suggested that the hit had left Blidh in shock, but he was well enough to return to the ice shortly afterward with multiple reports stating that Blidh was simply severely shook from the brutal collision.
The game, which had been delayed due to the incident, resumed with the remaining 2:39 of the first period made up in the second with Hartford leading one to nothing.

Blidh's Journey in the NHL and AHL

After playing with The Bruins from 2016-2022, Blidh alternated between Boston and AHL Providence, and later signed a two-way deal to play with the Avalanche. He played 14 NHL games before being traded to the Rangers earlier this year, where he has since been playing for Hartford.
