In a recent announcement, it was revealed that Ben Harpur, a defenseman in the Rangers' organization currently playing in the AHL, will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to pectoral surgery.

A couple Hartford notes:

- Ben Harpur is out for the season due to pectoral surgery. A hit the #NYR D depth.

- RD Mac Hollowell has been out with an injury, but coach Steve Smith is hopeful he'll be back this week. He practiced today.

Ben Harpur is out for the season due to pectoral surgery. He fell really hard on his shoulder after scoring this goal. Happen on Nov 3rd and didn't play a game since. #NYR

Ben Harpur's absence for the remainder of the season will leave a void in the Rangers' defensive lineup.

Harpur, 28, has played in 198 NHL games over seven seasons. Regrettably, he has yet to make an appearance in an NHL game this season, and the recent season-ending surgery confirms that he won't have the opportunity to do so.

This represents a significant loss for the Rangers and we hope that he recovers quickly.
